From the time that we were children, it was entrenched deep into our minds that family gatherings meant huge feasts of fried foods, birthday cakes, ice cream, and other tasty treats. Wasn't it mom that brought you fresh baked cookies when you didn't have such a great day at school? High obesity levels in San Antonio suggest that maybe another course of action be taken. Consider this: what if mom took you to the gym to pick you up when you were feeling down? "Family fitness has been on the rise for a few years now. Since Americans' lives are becoming more and more hectic, it's great that families are finding ways to spend time together any way they can," states Melissa Gable, San Antonio Personal Trainer and former Ms. Fitness Las Vegas.

"Not only are families able to bond, they're also getting themselves in better shape." Gable and Boyd Myers have teamed up to combine their more than 12 years of personal training experience to help local families spend more time together while getting in shape. Both train primarily at Red's Gym at 12066 Starcrest Lane in San Antonio as independent personal trainers. Both also offer family discounts on their training services to encourage families to train together. "Training family members together, whether it is a mother and a daughter, father and son, mother and son, or husband and wife is always a very special situation for me," said Boyd. "There's something about the intimacy of fitness that brings loved ones closer, all the while increasing their chances of living a longer, healthier life." Both Boyd and Melissa agree that it's easier to stick to a fitness routine if you have a partner to push you.    "Not only does exercising with a family member result in physical improvements, it also teaches the real world values of setting and reaching goals, hard work, and being there for a partner," noted Gable. If you'd like to find more out about personal training services for the family, please feel free to contact Boyd and Melissa on the web at http://the-personal-trainer.com, or by telephone at (210)391-1454..
